Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *kadā, from Proto-Indo-European *(s)kend-. Cognate to Greek σκεδάννυμι (skedánnymi), Sanskrit स्खदते (skhadate, “to split”).[1] Related to Albanian kij (“I prune, I trim”).[2]
