kétfelé

See also: kétféle

Hungarian

Alternative forms

  • kétfele (folksy)

Etymology

két (two) + felé (in … direction[s], into … part[s])

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): [ˈkeːtfɛleː]
  • Hyphenation: két‧fe‧lé
  • Rhymes: -leː

Adverb

kétfelé (not comparable)

  1. in two (different or opposite) directions
  2. into two parts
  3. at two places or locations (normally in two different directions)

Usage notes

As opposed to analogous constructions (háromfelé etc.), it does not have a distinction between variants written in solid or separately, as it is only possible with the longer form of the numeral: kettő (óra) felé (around two [o’clock]).
