From Ottoman Turkish ایویدیلك (ivedilik, haste),[1] from ایویدی (ivedi, ividi, hasty), from ایومك (ivmek, to hurry),[2] equivalent to ivedi (hasty, quick) + -lik + -le (instrumental suffix), ultimately from ivmek.
