From Ottoman Turkish ایویدیلك (ivedilik, “haste”),[1] from ایویدی (ivedi, ividi, “hasty”), from ایومك (ivmek, “to hurry”),[2] equivalent to ivedi (“hasty, quick”) + -lik + -le (instrumental suffix), ultimately from ivmek.
