Etymology
Inherited from Ottoman Turkish اصابت (isābet, “a hitting the mark, striking, reaching, stumbling upon, interj. Well done! Bravo!”),[1][2] from Arabic إِصَابَة (ʔiṣāba, “injury, trauma, score, a hitting shot”), verbal noun of أَصَابَ (ʔaṣāba, “to hit the mark, to speak or act to the point”).[3]
