in-school suspension (plural in-school suspensions)

1. (education) A type of primary and secondary school suspension method in which, for a given period of time, the students being punished are not allowed to go to their regular classes, but are still required to attend school to instead be kept in an alternative setting that usually involves immobility and the performing of school-related activities.

   If I catch you again disobeying the school dress code, you will receive an in-school suspension.
