Etymology 1
From Middle Norwegian eikki, from Old Norse ekki. Also an unstressed form of inkje, from Middle Norwegian eikki with -n- from eingin (> ingen). Cognate with Faroese ikki, Icelandic ekki, Swedish icke and Danish ikke.
