hoteissa

Finnish

Etymology

Inessive plural of an uncertain word, which may be either the possibly dialectal hode (sheepskin). Alternatively the root may be a borrowing from Proto-Germanic [Term?] (compare Old High German huota, whence German Hut (care, protection)), or from Russian ходить (xoditʹ), whence Karelian hoteissa (ongoing).
