Etymology
Sino-Vietnamese word from 有比, composed of 有 (“to have”) and 比 (“ratio”), perhaps a calque from a European cognate of English rational, ultimately from Latin ratiōnālis (“rational; reasonable”), from ratiō (“reason; ration; ratio”). Compare Japanese 有理 (yūri, literally “reasonable; rational”).
