Unknown; possibly:
- borrowed from Vulgar Latin *cremorātum, from Latin cremor (“porridge, stew; thick liquid”),[1]
- from earlier *glëmëratë with liquid assimilation, borrowed from Latin glomerātum, participle of glomerāre (“make into a ball, pile in a heap”).[2]
