Learned borrowing from Old English ġeteld (“tent, tabernacle”). Compare teld, tilt.

geteld (plural getelds)

1. (chiefly in the SCA) A tent, of a style historically used by the Anglo-Saxons, which resembles a shelter-half or pup tent.
