għadd (imperfect jgħodd, past participle magħdud, verbal noun għadd)

1. (transitive) to count, to calculate

   Trid tgħodd il-flus jew tafdani?

   Do you want to count the money or do you trust me?

2. (intransitive) to matter; to be important or valid

   X’jgħodd għalik l-iktar f’ħajtek?

   What matters most to you in your life?

3. (transitive, + bħal or b’) to consider to be; to take for

   Jgħodduna bħal boloh.

   They take us for idiots.

• The perfect forms widely merge with those of għadda (“to pass”). Hence probably the variant għodd, which avoids this.
