     Aluno is someone who attends a course regularly, of any level, duration or specialty, with the supposed finality of acquiring knowlege or having the right to a title. However, the estudante is an autonomous being, who seeks a new competence and intends to exercise it, for their benefit and that of society. The aluno receives. The estudante seeks. When the system works, all the alunos tend to become estudantes. When the system fails, they divorce from each other. That is what seems to happen between us: while the number of alunos in the primary school, high school and higher education grows, there are haunting signs of the disappearance of estudantes among the mass of learners.
