Blend of escalator + left, spelled with -er. Coined by the Washington DC metro.[1]

Noun

escalefter (plural escalefters)

  1. One who stands still on the left of an escalator impeding those wanting to move more quickly (often the right of the escalator is for standing and the left is for walking).
