Etymology
Inherited from Ottoman Turkish اشكال (eşkāl, “shapes, forms; figures; kinds”),[1][2] from Arabic أَشْكَال (ʔaškāl), plural of شَكْل (šakl, “likeness, model, pattern, shape, figure”), verbal noun of شَكَلَ (šakala).[3]
