dolgoz

Hungarian

Etymology

See at dolgozik.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): [ˈdolɡoz]
  • Hyphenation: dol‧goz
  • Rhymes: -oz

Verb

dolgoz

  1. (rare without a prefix, usually with an adverb of result) to process, make, effect, shape, form, fit, adjust, integrate
A lisztet sima tésztává dolgozzuk a tejjel és a sóval, majd lisztezett deszkán vékonyra nyújtjuk[we] make the flour into a smooth dough with the milk and the salt, then [we] stretch it out on a floured board [in]to a thin [layer]

Conjugation

  • Its conjugation is identical to that of dolgozik, except for the indefinite third-person singular indicative present (the dictionary form itself) and the lack of the additional forms that are possible only with the -ik conjugation (-om/-zam/-nám in indefinite first-person singular forms in the three moods and -ék in indefinite third-person singular subjunctive present, most of which forms are literary or archaic in style).
  • Its regular verbal noun form dolgozás rarely occurs outside of prefixed compounds (átdolgozás, kidolgozás etc.), and an etymologically unrelated noun, munka is usually applied for this purpose.
