Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish طوغریسی (doğrusu, the truth of the matter),[1][2] equivalent to doğru (true, straight, the truth) + -(s)u (possessive suffix with "s" as buffer consonant). Cognates with Azerbaijani doğrusu, Turkmen dogrusy, Uzbek toʻgʻrisi.
