From Proto-Albanian *aidzijā, cognate to Ancient Greek αἴξ (aíx) and Old Armenian այծ (ayc, goat), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eyǵ- (goat).[1] The word may also be an ancient adjective like Ancient Greek αἴγειος (aígeios).[2]
