Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *duaigā, from Proto-Indo-European *dwoy-, from the root *dwi- (“binary, consisting of two”). Cognate to Old High German zwig (“forking, crotch (of tree); bough, branch”).[1] Alternatively from a root *deh₃gʰ- shared with Proto-Germanic *tōgô (“branch”).[2]
