Etymology
Inherited from Ottoman Turkish دفع اول (defʿ ol),[1][2] from Arabic دَفْع (dafʕ), equivalent to def (“an act of pushing away, repelling, expelling”) + ol (“2nd P. Sg. positive imperative of olmak (“to be, to become”)”).[3]
