- Confessionality is the foundation for the Lutheran concept of confessional fellowship (Bekenntnisgemeinschaft). For Lutheran churches, the doctrinal basis for this particularity is found in the Bible, in Christian creeds and in the Lutheran confessional documents of the sixteenth century.
