cămară
Romanian
Etymology
Most likely borrowed from Greek κάμαρα (kámara), from Latin camara (variant of camera), itself from Ancient Greek κᾰμᾰ́ρᾱ (kamárā). An etymology straight from Latin or a Vulgar Latin form is unlikely. Compare Aromanian cãmarã, Albanian kamëre, Turkish kemer, Bulgarian камара (kamara). Doublet of cameră, borrowed directly from Latin, and comoară, through a Slavic intermediate.
