From Proto-Albanian *bwātā, from *bʰúH-tis, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰuH-. Cognate to Sanskrit भू (bhū́-, “earth, world”) and भूमि (bhū́mi-, “earth, ground, soil”).[1]
