Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish بوشه آلمق (boşa almaḳ, to suspend in the air),[1] equivalent to compound of boş (empty, hollow, vanity, futility, idleness) + -a (dative suffix) + almak (to take, to receive), literally to take into empty, idleness.[2]
