  1. A check/cheque written against a bank account with insufficient funds to pay the bearer the amount of the check.
    • 1982 August 28, Norman L. Rice, “Personal advertisement”, in Gay Community News, volume 10, number 7, page 19:
      I'm here for five years for writing a $30 bad check. The judge was prejudice [sic] because he knew I was gay.
