bánh bò

Shortened from bánh vú bò (“cow udder cake”) < bánh (“cake”) +‎ vú bò (“cow udder”) < vú (“breast”) +‎ bò (“cow”).

According to a popular folk etymology, this term instead comes from bánh +‎ bò (to crawl), referring to how the cake "crawls" up to the rim of the bowl when steamed to completion.
