Etymology
A compound with the first part somehow connected to Old Norse igða (“small bird”), either from Proto-Germanic *ewwadjǭ or from a common North Germanic/Scandinavian substrate. For the second part, compare Skolt Sami ceeʒʒaž (“chickadee”), from *cicāńčë (“small bird”).
