Etymology
An internationalism via Danish anorak, ultimately from Greenlandic annoraaq,[1] possibly related to Greenlandic anori (“wind”).[2] The Greenlandic term is from Greenlandic *atnuʀaaq (“clothing”), cognate with Inuktitut ᐊᓐᓄᕌᑦ (annoraat, “clothing”).
