adyưng

Alternative forms

  • dyưng

Etymology

From Proto-Katuic *ʄɨɨŋ, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *ɟuŋ ~ *ɟuəŋ ~ *ɟəŋ (leg, foot).

Since Katuic, Palaungic and Vietic are the only Austroasiatic branches with reconstructable and Palaungic (*ɟɤːŋ) and Vietic (*ɟiːŋ) have plain for this item, it is possible that Katuic innovated in this case.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): [ʔaʄɯːŋ]

Noun

adyưng

  1. foot
  2. leg
