adyưng
Pacoh
Alternative forms
- dyưng
Etymology
From Proto-Katuic *ʄɨɨŋ, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *ɟuŋ ~ *ɟuəŋ ~ *ɟəŋ (“leg, foot”).
Since Katuic, Palaungic and Vietic are the only Austroasiatic branches with reconstructable *ʄ and Palaungic (*ɟɤːŋ) and Vietic (*ɟiːŋ) have plain *ɟ for this item, it is possible that Katuic innovated *ʄ in this case.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): [ʔaʄɯːŋ]
