aîa
Old Tupi
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ˈʔaʝ̞a/, /ˈtaʝ̞a/, /ˈsaʝ̞a/
Usage notes
- The stem aîa could never be used inside a sentence without a prefix. In predicative position, the form taîa was used for animate subjects, and saîa for inanimate subjects. When modifying nouns, the noun itself would be agglutinated with the adjective (as nouns always precede adjectives in Tupi).
