     This turn to tobacco is not surprising, since Eshan lies smack dab in the center of China’s prime tobacco road country; the Yuxi area has long had a name for good smokes. The Hongta Shan brand cigarette factory in Yuxi City is one of the largest enterprises in all of China, paying fully half of Yunnan’s taxes to the central tax bureau and accounting for 40 percent of the province’s own revenues.
