- 2010, Dong Huai, “Yuanyang Terraced Fields”, in Discovering China: 50 Amazing Places in China, Better Link Press, →ISBN, →OCLC, →OL, page 140:
- Yuanyang terraced fields lie within the Yuanyang county of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, on the south part of Ailao Mountain, They are majestic and extend through the whole of Honghe, Yuanyang, Lüchun and Jinping counties on the south bank of the Honghe River. Only within Yuanyang county does it cover an area of about 17,000 mu (a Chinese unit, one mu equals about 667 sq. m), which makes Yuanyang the core area of the Honghe Hani terraced fields.
- 2020 July 4, Thomas Bird, “Hiking the Yuanyang rice terraces - get off the beaten track for the real deal”, in South China Morning Post, →ISSN, →OCLC, archived from the original on 05 July 2020, Travel:
- My room has an unobstructed vista of the terraces cascading down the valley like a muddy waterfall. The night is serenaded by a frog chorus and at dawn I’m up with the rooster crow, ready to test my walking boots.
Tourism in Yuanyang county has been designed for the tour-bus class, who follow a loop road around the valley, stopping off at various platforms to photograph the rice terraces but missing the points of interest in between.
