Etymology
From initial letter Y of English yellow, using a movement similar to other ASL color signs, e.g. G@Side Twist (“green”), B@Side Twist (“blue”).
Production
- This one-handed ASL sign is produced as follows:
- Posture the dominant hand in the “Y” handshape about half an arm’s length in front of the shoulder.
- Repeatedly twist the hand clockwise and counterclockwise.
- Posture the dominant hand in the “Y” handshape about half an arm’s length in front of the shoulder, dominant palm facing back.
