Etymology

Potentially attested as withuis in 1399-1400, attested with certainty as Withuys in 1803-1820. Derived from a compound of wit (white) and huis (house). Named after a farmhouse formerly owned by the Cistercian monastery of Val-Saint-Lambert in Liège.
