Vorchten
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as vorichten in 1176. Etymology unknown. Proposed derivations from Proto-Germanic *furhitha (“place of pine trees”) and vrucht (“enclosure”) do not match well with the oldest attestations of the toponym.
