Etymology
Uncertain;[1] probably a secondary analogical full-grade of *þrubō, from Proto-Germanic *þrubô, possibly from Proto-Indo-European *trup-ḗn ~ *trup-nés, from *trewp- (“to collect, unite”) + *-ḗn, cognate with Hittite 𒋫𒊒𒌒𒍣 (ta-ru-up-zi /tarupzi/, “to collect, unite”).[2]
