Etymology
*kolme + *-mte. The *-a- is required by the descendants[1] (e.g. *kolmemte would have resulted in Proto-Samic **kuolmëmtë). This etymology is incomplete. You can help Wiktionary by elaborating on the origins of this term. but why *-a-?
