Proto-Turkic
Etymology 1
Alternative form of *-tur for polysyllabic verbs.
Usage notes
- Sometimes, although it is not a polysyllabic verb, the form *-t is added, not *-tUr form. But this situation is not productive and is rare. If there is no such a verb, you cannot derive a new verb by adding it to a monosyllabic verb.
- *sür- (“to smear”) + *-t → *sürt- (“to rub”)
