Proto-Ryukyuan
Alternative forms
- *garas(V)a
Etymology
From Proto-Japonic *karasu (“crow”), with irregular voicing of the initial consonant.
The alternative reconstruction is due to forms ending in -a, but this must actually be a product of suffixing.
