Etymology

Reconstruction notes

Perhaps, according to clusters Godoberi -скк-, -скӏ-, Chamalal -сск- (-ssk-) and Tindi -скӏ-, the shape should be reconstructed as Proto-Nakh *masḳul. Due to the lack of a form of the Bats language, it is impossible to say this for sure. It is also known that Proto-Nakh clusters *-sṭ- and *-st- merge into one *-st-.

Noun

*maskul
