Proto-Mongolic
Alternative forms
- *(h)öber
- *eber
Etymology
Possibly related to Proto-Mongolic *ebcexün (“chest”), whence Mongolian өвчүү (övčüü), or Proto-Mongolic *emüne (“front, south, anterior”) possibly as a result of secondary nasalization of *b, paralleling the pair *gadar and *gadana.
