Proto-Finnic

Etymology

From a stem *pit(e)- + *-kä, from Proto-Uralic *pide. Formally identical to Proto-Samoyedic *pirkä (high); other cognates include Hungarian fel, föl (up). Many of the derived terms are derived directly from the stem *pit(e)-.
