Proto-Finnic
Etymology
From earlier *kekrä (whence Proto-Samic *keavrē), borrowed from pre Proto-Indo-Iranian *ḱekrám (later *čakrám, whence Sanskrit चक्र (cakra, “wheel, cycle of seasons”)).[1] Alternatively, according to Saarikivi (2022), possibly a derivation from *käkrä, *kekrä (“bent, crooked”), first in the sense "turn of the year".[2]
