Etymology
From *selgati (“to hunt”), from Proto-Indo-European *selǵ- (“to send away, set loose”). Cognate with Ancient Greek λαγάσαι (lagásai, “to set free”) and Sanskrit सृजति (sṛjáti, “sets loose”).
