Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *dʰewp-, *dʰewb- (deep, hollow). Cognate to Lithuanian dubùs (deep, hollow), English deep. Ancient Greek δέπας (dépas, beaker, goblet) represents a Proto-Albanian loanword.[1]
