From Proto-Iranian *HraHiwáh, secondary a-stem of *HraHiwáns (whence Avestan 𐬭𐬀𐬉𐬎𐬎𐬀𐬧𐬙 (raēuuaṇt)), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *HraHiwánts (whence Sanskrit रयिवत् (rayivát)), from Proto-Indo-European *Hreh₁i-wént-s, from *Hreh₁ís (wealth, goods) + *-wénts. Cognate with Avestan 𐬭𐬀𐬉𐬎𐬎𐬀 (raēuua).
