Phrygian mode (plural Phrygian modes)

  1. (music) a mode whose scale is the same as a minor key with the second scale degree lowered by one half step, with the interval pattern:
    semitone - tone - tone - tone - semitone - tone - tone.
    Starting on the note C, this produces a scale with the notes C, D♭, E♭, F, G, A♭, B♭, C
