Kinkhoven
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as Kinckhoven in 1803-1820. Difficult to interpret due to a paucity of old attestations. Potentially a compound of Old Dutch Kindo (“a personal name”) suffixed with the collectivising suffix Old Dutch -ing- and the dative plural form of hof (“farmstead, homestead”).
See also Limburgish Kinkhaove.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ˈkɪŋkˌɦoː.və(n)/
