Kichen

- Kéchen (dialectal)
Etymology
From Middle High German küchen, from Old High German chuhhina, from Proto-West Germanic *kukinā, from Latin coquīna. The -i- instead of -é- is irregular; perhaps due to interference by unrelated Kuch (“pie, cake”), diminutive Kichelchen or influence by German Küche.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ˈkiχen/, [ˈkiɕən]
