Kantens
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as cantenze in 1326. Likely derived from Old Frisian Kanto (“a personal name”) suffixed with the collectivising suffix *-ingi-. According to an alternative hypothesis, the toponym derives from a pre-Germanic (potentially Celtic) source. Compare Hantum and Cantaing-sur-Escaut.
