From hexapla, from Ancient Greek ἑξαπλά (hexaplá), neuter plural of ἑξαπλοῦς (hexaploûs, sixfold), from ἕξ- (héx-, hexa-: six) + -πλοος (-ploos, -fold), used as the title of such an edition by Origen.
